Negativland + SUE-C (with Blevin Blectum) at Clock-Out Lounge

2021-09-23 Hardly Raining

Negativland and SUE-C finally made it to the Clock-Out Lounge on September 23, 2021, a year and a half later than originally scheduled due to COVID-19. Negativland is an experimental Bay Area collective that includes founding members Mark Hosler and David Wills (AKA The Weatherman), as well as Jon Leidecker (AKA Wobbly). Most recently, they released the EP No Brain.

Negativland produced beats, vocals, and sample-rich social commentary on the spot, while Portland video artist SUE-C (AKA Sue Slagle) provided provocative real-time projections. The Weatherman even joined the set virtually. You can read reviews of this show in The Stranger, and of their Portland show in The Wire.

Seattle electronic musician Blevin Blectum (AKA Bevin Kelley) opened with some new tunes, which were characteristically complex and high-energy. Her set featured visuals by Alexander Dupuis. Blectum from Blechdom, a collaboration between Kelley and Kevin Blechdom, released Deep Bone in 2021.

Negativland and SUE-C toured the U.S. West Coast and Southwest in late 2021. They just announced an East-Coast tour for this spring.
