Women in Song at Volunteer Park

The Volunteer Park Summer Series at the Amphitheater closed out its season with Women in Song, featuring Star Anna, Eugenie Jones, and Alessandra Rose.

Ellensburg-based Americana artist Star Anna (vocals, guitar) kicked off the evening. Her band The Oracles included Mark Pickerel (drums), Omar Schambacher (guitar), and Tyrah Dunning (bass). Although the group has not yet recorded, they have performed several shows together this summer.

Seattle-area jazz vocalist Eugenie Jones was accompanied by David Deacon-Joyner (piano), Jamael Nance (drums), and Shahan Kilaghbian (bass). She has been touring in support of her latest album, Players, which has been highly ranked in jazz-radio airplay. Jones also produces the Jackson Street Jazz Walk, which will take place in Seattle’s Central District on September 10.

Portland-based Alessandra Rose (vocals, guitar) played the final set of the evening and the series. She was backed by a four-piece band that included Christopher Jones (keys), Garrett Lunceford (guitar), Colby Ostheimer (drums), and Noah Wilson (bass). Rose recently announced that she has recorded a new album. On September 9-10, both Rose and Star Anna will perform a tribute to Patsy Cline at the Triple Door.
