2023-03-17 Hardly Raining
Jazz vocalist Samara Joy sold out a show at Town Hall Great Hall on March 17, 2023. Joy had performed at Seattle’s Earshot Jazz Festival with pianist Sullivan Fortner in 2021. Accompanying her this time was a seven-piece band of rhythm and horns. The audience offered an enthusiastic reception, including a mid-set standing ovation.
Last month, Joy won two Grammy awards—for Best New Artist and Best Jazz Vocal Album. She released Linger Awhile in September 2022. Joy plans several upcoming tour dates throughout the U.S. and Europe, including six nights at the Village Vanguard in April.
