NYC alto-saxophonist and composer Lakecia Benjamin performed at Cornish College’s Raisbeck Auditorium on June 1, 2023. Joining Benjamin were Zaccai Curtis (piano), E. J. Strickland (drums), and Ivan Taylor (bass).
Benjamin released her fourth studio album, Phoenix, earlier this year. The quartet tours the U.S. west coast this week, including two nights at Portland’s 1905. They play a European tour in July.
The concert was part of the Earshot Jazz Spring Concert Series, which resumes on June 17 with the Steve Lehman Trio.
