Thousands gathered outside Seattle’s Federal Building to protest yesterday’s U.S. Supreme Court decision that overturned abortion rights. As part of a national response to the expected ruling, local organizers had planned rallies across western Washington.
Event speakers included local abortion-rights leaders and Seattle City Councilmember Kshama Sawant. Protesters then marched through downtown, chanting “Not the church, not the state, we will decide our fate,” “Pro-life, that’s a lie, they don’t care if people die,” and “Fuck the SCOTUS.”
More rallies are planned for today, including an event at Westlake Center at 5:00 p.m.
