Triskaideka’s First Gig, at Skylark

2021-09-17 Hardly Raining

New-ish band Triskaideka played their first show at West Seattle’s Skylark Café and Club. Their April 2020 debut had been postponed due to the pandemic. Appropriate to their name, it was a 13-tune set.

The group features Janet Hurt (organ), Mark Bombara (guitar), Shane Peck (drums), and Dave Pascal (bass). Hurt (AKA DJ Marvelette) described their sound as “instrumental vintage cinema.” Co-composer Bombara added, “‘circus’ needs to be in there somewhere.” Triskaideka released two singles on Bandcamp in August.

Lushy headlined with a set of dancey “progressive cocktail pop,” backed by kitschy visuals.

Skylark serves craft beer, cocktails, sandwiches, and sides (including vegetarian and gluten-free options). They check vaccination cards at the door, and offer outdoor seating.
