Long-time friends Ray Vega and Thomas Marriott teamed up cross-country to present the East–West Trumpet Summit. Marriott hails from Seattle, and Vega currently lives in Vermont. Joining them were Orrin Evans (piano) from Philadelphia/New York City, Michael Glynn (bass) from Seattle, and the legendary Roy McCurdy (drums) from Los Angeles.
The set list included Broadway, I Told You So, ODAT, Girl Talk, Front Row Family, One Quarter Nelson, So Long Eric, and You’ve Changed. For a show review, read in All About Jazz or at collaborating site Seattle Jazz Scene.
Held at Bellevue’s Meydenbauer Center Theatre, the show headlined the 14th Annual Bellevue Jazz & Blues Music Series. The festival was sponsored by the Bellevue Downtown Association.
