After years of planning and construction, the Volunteer Park Amphitheater has reopened with an upgraded stage. The Summer Series at the Amphitheater is celebrating with six weeks of free outdoor concerts.
The July 14, 2022 event featured piano jazz and a picnic in the park. Acts included Duende Libre, the Marina Albero Trio, and the Marc Seales Trio. Duende Libre included Alex Chadsey (piano), Farko Dosumov (electric bass), and Jeff Busch (drums). Marina Albero (piano) was joined by D’Vonne Lewis (drums) and Kelsey Mines (upright bass). Marc Seales (piano) was accompanied by Steve Rodby (upright bass), and Gary Hobbs (drums).
The Volunteer Park Trust produced the event, and KNKX sponsored and hosted the evening. On Thursday August 4, the series continues with a night of Latin jazz, featuring Raul Midon and Jovino Santos Neto.
