2023.06.22 Hardly Raining
The East–West Trumpet Summit performed at The Royal Room on June 22, 2023. Personnel included Thomas Marriott (trumpet, flugelhorn), Ray Vega (trumpet, flugelhorn), Roy McCurdy (drums), Michael Glynn (bass), and Tim Kennedy (piano). Seattle multi-instrumentalist Jay Thomas sat in for the final number.
The event celebrated the release of their album, Coast to Coast. Recorded in Seattle when the Summit last convened in 2021, the CD appears on Origin Records. It features the release-party band, but with Orrin Evans on piano.
East–West Trumpet Summit plays tonight at Frankie’s Jazz Club in Vancouver, BC.
