2024-03-22 Hardly Raining
Portland alto-saxophonist and composer Owen Broder performed at the Royal Room on March 22, 2024. His multi-city quintet included Noah Simpson (trumpet), Carmen Staaf (piano), Emiliano Lasansky (bass), and John Sturino (drums). (Broder also played the Royal Room during the 2021 Earshot Jazz Festival.) The group completes their three-stop west coast tour tonight at Portland’s Jack London Review.
In April 2024, Broder will release Hodges: Front and Center, Vol. 2. The album includes Broder’s arrangements of tunes associated with saxophonist Johnny Hodges.
