2024-03-30 Hardly Raining

Legendary avant-garde artist Laurie Anderson performed “Let X = X” at Benaroya Hall on March 30, 2024. Anderson incorporates electronics, spoken word, invented musical instruments, surreal video, and audience participation into a stunning multimedia experience. She played to an enthusiastic, nearly full house. The event was part of the 2024 Spring Concert Series, presented by PDX Jazz.

Accompanying Anderson was bombastic New York City jazz combo Sexmob, including Steven Bernstein (slide trumpet), Briggan Krauss (saxophone), Tony Scherr (bass), Kenny Wollesen (drums), and Doug Wieselman (guitar, woodwinds). (Editor’s note: Sexmob performed at The Royal Room in 2023.)
